Ferocious waterbugs (Abedus herberti) are smaller, but related to the giant waterbugs (Lethocerus americanus). They are predators of other insects, tadpoles and minnows in streams and ponds. They are sometimes called toebiters. In this video, the waterbug has been offered an adult male Blaptica dubia cockroach. Mantis-like, it grips its prey with raptorial forearms. It drowns its prey while injecting venom and metabolizing enzymes through its rostrum (needle-like mouthpart) which has impaled the cockroach. Soon the roach is just a drained shell.

  • Cockroaches serve a role in nature or they wouldn't exist. Then humans came along recently and created perfect habitats and started leaving cockroach food all over the place (calling them houses and crumbs).

  • @bugsincyberspace actually, they are somewhat useless....what's the point of a bug juggernaut (or buggernaut), if it can make thousands of perfect children, shit all over everything, and seige huge areas? It's what happens when evoulution becomes too perfect. Good thing they are easy to kill. You can say the same thing about ants and etc., but ants collect some food, and make mini-mines. What's wrong with that? Humans and cockroaches are probably the 2 most terrible creatures on the earth.

  • @starzoc00 I can imagine a perspective of uselessness in a world of concrete and grass lawns, but even then you're wrong. Nature doesn't care what you think. If there's a niche under your microwave or in a virgin rainforest, "life will find a way". Further, cockroaches did not evolve to live in your dirty apartment. They just stay there because it is ideal. Even the (fewer than) 1% of roach species that are "pests" are in perfect harmony with their natural environment, until humans alter it.

  • Giant waterbugs are not easy to discover because they camouflage into their natural environment. But with a little determination they always reveal themselves!

  • The music's great. I want title cards,

'Hey there fella, you've knocked over my penny farthing!'

  • BUG PORN!

  • It wasn't easy but after a lot of effort I was able to masturbate to this.

  • Love how high and mighty people get saying cockroaches are pests, are useless, etc. Cockroaches have been around for billions of years. They are one of the oldest creatures on the planet, like sharks, and they are evolutionary perfection. They are built for survival. Cut off a cockroach's head, it can live for 3 months. It's immune to almost all diseases. It can pass on any immunity to poisons it develops onto the next generation. Let's see you live for 3 minutes without a head...

  • PEOPLE!!! get a fucking life, you are making fucking book reports on weither cockroacches are important to earth or not....get a grip and get a fucking life!

  • @bugsincyberspace No one's stopping you from surrendering your life for your cockroach overlords.

  • @bugsincyberspace Not all humans, Bamboo villages in south Asia would be a horrible place for cockroaches, you are either an ignorant person or one who makes things up to look smart.

  • Damn, talk about masterpiece theatre. lol
