@TheMrmoonlight I apologize for the poor quality on some of these videos. They were originally recorded back in the late 1980's and early 90's on VHS cassette. Then when I got a combo VCR/DVD that dubbed, I transferred them all to DVDs. It just didn't improve the quality when I did that. I hoped that they are still watchable enough for other Unsolved Mysteries fans that might not have seen these episodes or are just an Unsolved Mysteries buff like me.

I have a pretty simple theory...
All but Scott are swept overboard during the storm. Scott dies in the boat while it is drifting out on the Pacific. Afterwards, as in years later, a fishing boat passes, seeing the tiny vessel. They tow the little boat to the island, bury Scott (who is only bones at this point) out of respect, and move on.
Why not report it? Poaching..pirating... illegal cargo or catch.. or maybe because he'd been dead so long

@napachild It was either at the bottom of the sea with the body entombed in the wreckage and churned out some time after the survey, or had drifted to a neighbouring island where it stayed for years before being found and then towed to an uninhabited island for a simple burial. That will always be speculation though. Fascinating story.
I smell a conspiracy... Perhap one of the men knew too much?!

Foil is used as a fishing lure. An experienced fisherman might laminate it to paper for durability. I'm guessing it was the only thing the deceased had on him when he died that was of no value so it was buried with him. The rest is pretty self-explanatory - men died during storm, partially eaten skeleton washed up years later with the boat and was buried by an outlaw or a native of one of the neighbouring islands.

@EClein2 Still doesn't answer where the boat was between the time the island was first checked---a few years before it was found and when it was found. And how did it drift some 3,000 miles away and endure for years?
