I went to start it this morning and got a loud jackhammer sound from under the hood. 2 hours later I tried to start it again and after some hesitation it started. This is after a few starts - a little hesitation but not nearly as much. I don't know what is wrong. ???

  • Hi I dont konw if your figured out the issue but this is called pinking, this is where the fuel is ignitted before the piston reaches TDC (top dead centre) also known as KNOCK this will happen if you have faulty or worn glow plugs. It means your cylinders are getting to hot. You will need to take to a garage to have this solved as it could be a range of problems, your best bet is to drain and re fill the coolant. Make sure the coolant is flowing properly.

  • Sound like the starter is cranking but is not going back, Like if it get's stuck....

  • Are you using 91 grade fuel?? it sounds like its pinging.
