@TheDarkXatu because this vehicle is called the Spear on the US version of Mario Kart, the same goes for the Bowser Bike/Flame Runner and the Bon Bon has another US name too (Sweet Dasher or something)

ROM's goal was just to get the WR, I have no idea why he improved his time by "006 and "003 respectively. He was also the first 1'09"5 sub, which is big on a track like this.

Well it is good to know the fastest theoretical time, which would be 1'09"102 unless someone beats one of the splits. Pierrepont's 22"996 run was absolutely insane, but I don't know about ROM's 23"110 on lap 1.

but knowing what the best known splits can give doesn't really help, since getting them in a race is slim to none.

But I don't see, bar a glitch, anyway to go much faster on this course :/

Yeah but even the best splits STILL give 1'09"102, which isn't the necessary sub. If someone subbed 1'09 right now the run would be insane, sort of like FROSTBEULE's sub 1'10 run about 2 weeks after the game came out.
