Shela Hidalgo, student, in conversation with Amee Godwin, of ISKME, for CompletionMatters.org, Conversations on College Completion
Shela Hidalgo, graduate of Mesa Community College and Community College National Conference Speaker, is a role model and activist for student success based on her triumph over adversity and success in community college and transfer to a four-year program. She emphasizes peer and faculty mentorship, service learning, honors support programs, student leadership, financial aid, and the adjustment to taking on adult responsibilities while still in high school. An inspiration to other students, Shela tells how the community college provided the supports of a family she would not have had otherwise.
