When I realised that the guitar version of Blackbird was pretty much based around a droning G string then it was a simple step to play a banjo version which sticks mostly to the original for the feel of the chords. I played it with no picks as I think it gets closer to the guitar style that the song needs.
Hope you like it.Recorded on September 3, 2010 using a Flip Video camcorder.

  • I'm glad you liked it.. I don't have a tab of the tune on banjo, I just adapted it from the Beatles version. The chords are available on the web.It is mostly played with the 3rd string open and the other chords played as inside shapes on the 2nd and 4th strings, just like the guitar does.

    Best of luck with it.

  • Geoff-

Between :14 - .21 or about-what right hand roll are you using. Appears you are fretting the 3rd and 4th string (same fret) down the neck. I can see and hear that for the most part but again what roll. Thanks

  • Geoff-

Thanks. I have watched others on youtube and I like your version. I can see how you are playing the best too. I have been picking for 30 years and recently wanted to add some Beatles to my porfolio. Your comments will help. Again, thanks and keeping playing.

  • Great-do you have the cords and/or tabs for Blackbird for the banjo
