I found that it was rather difficult to walk, shoot video, push a stroller, and watch a 9-year-old all at the same time, so bear that in mind as you watch.....

I am please that you and others who have posted here are so comfortable with yourselves and who you are. There are many "normals" who could learn that from you.

Bur, I see my son struggling with so many things that "normals" don't struggle with. I see that life has made even the simplest things stressful and trying for him -- and I don't mean the social aspects of Autism.

It is those things I wish I could "fix" for him. Like how, even at 9 years old, he has crying fits when blowing his nose, going to the bathroom, brushing his teeth, etc. Simple things like that.

So he doesn't join the boy scouts or play little league. Big deal.

It makes me sad, though, that he doesn't have someone he can call his "friend."

Maybe I am being selfish here, but that is how I feel.

I love Matthew for who he is; accept who he is. I celebrate his achievements. He truly is my hero.

But, is it so wrong for me and others to want his life to be easier?

I am autistric. I am againt Autism Speaks. I support neurodiversity.

And can I ask you this (not trying to be rude or anything)but what exactly is autism speaks DOING to make people's lives better? All they really care about is "curing" it but have they actually given money to communities to help with people struggling with autism?

well he will deal with his fits, in tie but every person has struggles and quarks so its not really or you to be sad over it his issues, if he ewas normal, he would have great obsticles and such also...it just life no matter what, life i life, its sometimes easy sometimes hard, but who ever you are its got its struullges
