My woofy encountering deep snow for the first time - is she a dog or is she a gazelle? Izzy is a Japanese Shiba Inu; one of those 'feisty' breeds with a strong prey instinct that you just cannot let off the leash. This means that my mother's enclosed back garden is one of the few places where we can let her run free.
The grass in The Battery is wild and deep and usually results in Izzy having to do a passable imitation of a gazelle as she careers around the place. Even more fun when the snow is chest-high! (Sorry about the lousy sound, driving wind and sleet in our faces yesterday.)
Incidentally, my mother tells me that the last time the back garden in The Battery was covered in snow (it is right on top of the ocean as you can see, so the snow never, ever, sticks!) was the winter of 1963 - when she was pregnant with me.
