Zingarina arrives in Transylavania, accompanied by her close friend Marie and her guide and interpreter Luminitsa. She is not there only to visit this region of Romania but to trace her lover Milan, a musician who has made her pregnant and who left her without a word of explanation. When she finds him back, he brutally rejects her and Zingarina is terribly upset. She leaves her two companions and having become a wreck she hardly survives by following a wandering little girl. Her destiny changes for the best when she meets Tchangalo, a traveling trader...

Stunning movie,one of my favorites.However being romanian I can't help but be annoyed that this is the image my country has been atributed.Romania is not like this.There's bits and places no doubt,but that would be like saying that since a cat has claws,you can only show the claws and that's a cat.It's misleading.I live in Transilvania.

this movie is about redemption, not (just about) Romania. strongly beautiful.

@hahabinga no fear. noone sees it as a documentary. it´s just a film and the contrast between the story which is strong and quiet surroundings just contribute to the film´s atmosphere. maybe that´s why this film is so uderrated by viewers (also at imdb)- all romanians are just offended by this portrayal of their country.
