Four .243 Win shots are placed inside (through) a 20 lb LP gas cylinder fired at 400 yds.
The wind drift was about 16 inches as the wind was steady at about 10 mph left to right. The still photo shows the actual sight picture with drop and drift.
This was fired from my 20 yr old 700 Remington Custom built rifle using factory loaded Federal Premium ammunition pushing 85 gr. Sierra Game King boat tailed hollow point bullets.
This rifle's bore has fired approximately 3500 rounds and still keeps hammering the lead right in there with less than one minute of accuracy. I use the custom installed Leupold ballistic reticle to judge hold-over and wind drift. The bipod is custom is unique and self-engineered lightweight and the best continues to be the very best shooting accessory that I have ever used.
I have found that shooting deer and hogs at over 400 yds. to be impractical with the .243 WIn, caliber. At 400 yds. the 85 grain bullet downrange energy slips under the 1000-pound humane kill energy guideline.
Its interesting that at 400 yards, the 243 has enough horsepower to penetrate both sides of the steel 20 pound LP gas cylinder. At 500 yds, the bullet only dents one side.
