I took this video at Eric Whitacre's second performance with DCINY at Avery Fisher Hall, NYC, on 6.28.09. Whitacre conducts six combined choirs in his work 'Animal Crackers Vol. II' with poetry by Ogden Nash. The songs are: 'The Canary,' 'The Eel', and 'The Kangaroo.'
I had to try very hard to keep the camera steady because I was laughing. This is fantastic stuff.
Were doing this for our 7th grade choir! :)

He wanted the sopranos to sound like that. I just arrived back home today from NYC where I took part in this year's concert at Avery Fisher Hall with Mr. Whitacre. In The Canary the sopranos are supposed to be "air headed" and ditzy. While the rest of the choir can't get a word in edge wise. So there you have it. Haha.

@dramaprincess30 Actually, Thats was Mr. Whitacre's choice, he wanted them to sound as bothersome as possible.

Haha we are singing this now. There are 16 of us 2 tenors 3 bass 5 sopranos and 6 altos. Its an indcredibly fun song to sing specially in the beginning. When the sopranos are singing the other sections will be staring at us angrily.. oh well. This is the video we used to show everyone what we will be doing i might add.

How did you record the video if camcorders and digital cameras are prohibited at this venue?
Did someone ask you to stop recording?
Were there more persons taking pictures and/or recording?
I'm asking because I'm going to attend a concert and I was told not to bring a camera with me, since these are strictly prohibited.
Thanks. ;)
