  • juandager: This video was shot at a workshop I taught in Knoxville, Tn. USA. This was done a couple of years ago, so I do not remember if I had stained the canvas prior to painting the portrait which I normally do. Often while teaching a class, a topic comes up that I did not anticipate, so I grab an extra canvas that I have along with me to demonstrate some concept or solution to a painting problem. Generally, I prefer to paint on a stained canvas simply to be rid of the white ground. Jon

  • @jwhougie Thank You Mr. Houhlum

  • I observe that the shadows are much cooler in the picture and the strong lighting has produced much lighting highlights. did you change these things on purpose?

  • ... and also as especially where you would paint lanscapes as well... around tree trunks ..so great... the creases of in tree trunks then regular brown would bring the true color of wood ..lighten the brown with white and so on so on!... your complete masterpiece of this portrait looks very professional of the " man in his suit " the face of himself has the impression that is worth it for the painting.

  • Green and Red makes a good dark color where its not so empty, especially around the eyes or directed in the eyes... better than black and its true on the dark gray side of the color of green and red,....

  • this needs more views !!!
