Only the second take. Couldn't be bothered to try more today, but would like to overdub a guitar solo if only I knew how... Suggestions?!?

I've taken a few liberties with this, but mostly just changing the endless Dm for a repeating Dm Dm Bb7 A7 sequence. This was easier to sing over than the funk-guitar part I originally hoped for. The other option was using the same chord sequence on the piano, but I thought it about time I got out the electric. And anyway, the chords for the instrumental bridge didn't have much life on the piano...

  • Great Job

  • Thanks 540fox. I appreciate the feedback. (-:

  • your voice is cool, a little richard ashcroft-ish at certain points.

  • LOL I'm not sure about Ashcroft. I wonder where those "certain points" are?

I'm surprised at my voice in this. The pitch is low for this song and my voice sounds different. I nearly recorded this showing only guitar, but wasn't sure people would believe it was ME singing!

I can't believe how mellow this has ended up - especially when I began by trying to speed it up - punk, funk or disco!

I actually quite like this on listening to it again, but too mellow for the hardcore Oasis fan I suspect.

  • i do consider myself a hardcore oasis fan and i like it haha. well i guess it's not exactly your voice itself that reminded me of ashcroft, just your style and the way you sing it.

    probably makes no sense :P

  • I can't pretend to know exactly what you mean (I only know Urban Hymns though - which I LOVE incidentally), but it makes perfect sense in a way. I can often hear the essence of some artist or other in other peoples' work but it's not usually a tangible quality but something indefinable...
