M begins her Cambridge CELTA English teacher training program at ECC Thailand (Phuket). She discusses orientation and how her first day went. She even teaches her very first English as a foreign language class. We also see some of her classmates at the group's favorite hangout restaurant, Old Tricycle. This is part 1 of this segment of the Radical Acceptance documentary.

  • This really helped me so much prepare. I'm British and I've applied to go and do the CELTA at the IHouse in Buenos Aires next year. I really want to teach English across South America so really want this qualification. Your whole story about the kind of things to expect & how your 1st day went has made me feel better. It sounds just like what I imagined it to be like: tough and hard work but a lot of fun. How is M finding her life as a teacher now? Are you still teaching in Thailand?

  • I'm thrilled you found our video so helpful! I’m dying to spend some time in Argentina…we lived in Mexico for 4 years and absolutely loved it, but never made it further south. M could not be happier with how successfully the course prepared her to begin teaching. As you’ll see in upcoming videos, I sent out applications on her behalf all over Thailand. She received offers immediately and we decided on a language school in Songkhla, a small, somewhat sleepy, town in the deep south

  • A few days after completing the CELTA, we moved there and she began teaching the following week. She was of course nervous to begin, but she was able to do the job effectively from the start. After several weeks she had her preparation routine down and was teaching confidently. We have both fallen in love with Songkhla and enjoy both the Thai and the tiny expat community (primarily) of other teachers and offshore oil workers.

  • M now teaches as if she was a seasoned pro and likes the school very much. Feel free to ask any additional questions you may have and best wishes on your new journey. I’m sure you’ll have a blast!

  • Hi there,

I'm an English woman planning to go to Phuket to study this course in the new year. It looks like you are enjoying the experience. I was just wondering how many other students there were on the course and there ages. I'm 21 and I'm hoping there will be people within my age group?

  • @EmzZz1988 Hello, Jesse here. Thanks for your comment. M did thoroughly enjoy the ECC CELTA program. She had 16 classmates and their ages ranged from 21 to late 40s, with the majority in their 30s. Having never taught before, she was satisfied that the course gave her the best foundation she could have hoped for. My video production is significantly behind so you haven’t seen it yet, but she has easily made the transition from trainee to full time teacher. Message me if any other questions.

  • @cezzie901 I have to tell you that IHouse is a terrible company. I only had headaches working for them. I suggest that you look into other companies.
