This oil well is located within the gate off Site dr. It is owned and operated by Linn western operating llc. It is named after the company that originally owned this land and lease. This well was drilled by Shell of California before it was bought out by Blacksand energy, then Area energy, and finally Linn Western operating. It has a 25hp 3 phase motor powered by electricity that is generated in the field by means of burning the gas that comes from the wells. It produced 3,135 bbl/year in 2008. A pretty good number. Notice the ladder and the pad for a work over rig to back up on. It is a Lufkin convention with a controller to cycle it every 10 minutes.

It's API# 05906830
It has very low decline rates.

  • Nice exploration inside the field... You might not remember this, but there used to be an oil tank on those hills that they'd light up every year at Christmas with lights. I think it was in the shape of a Christmas tree (or a star...?) I could see it from my front yard miles away. A bit of history there...

  • Ha I can remember it but I can't think where it was at. I think it was the beigeish tank high on the hill (which is actually a tank for pasture irrigation water) I can see that out my front window. Do you remember what area it was in?

  • I think it was a silver tank (which made me guess it was oil -- most of the water tanks seem to be painted) and it was probably 1/3 to 1/2 way up the hillside, below where the old Nike missile site used to be on the crest of the hills (Remember that? Another landmark now gone!)

  • Yeah, I know what your talking about, it's beige now. (I'm looking at it as I type) The Nike base is so cool, if you go on flikr there is quite a few photos of it. I'm actually heading up there this weekend to check it out with a buddy of mine.

  • If you do, take some video/pictures of it. I've never seen it up close. There used to be a big T-shaped tower up there, but I think it's gone now. Not sure what's left.
