That's the turbo you're hearing from the 260 HP GM Ecotech engine. This car uses the gas engine when you want to accelerate really fast (408 BHP) . Car has 2 modes all electric (0-60 8 sec), and elec+gas (0-60 6 sec)

The Crown Prince of Denmark has actually ordered a Karma, and during COP15 here in Copenhagen, Fisker has lent him a pre-production version wich he has been showing off. I can verify that the car makes absolutely no sound whatsoever, and looks stunning.
