After two weeks, my Bubble tipped Anenome began to host my tank raised "false" clown. It is fun to watch, just have to be patient!
Also, I'm told that a carpet anenome is actually a better selection for this type of fish, so make your anenome choice wisely. The smaller (male) clown never did host with this same Anenome, I think the larger (Female) would not let him in. Go figure. Maybe he was in the "doghouse" so to speak.
You want your fish to be happy with an anenome it would natually bond with. Hosting with a torch or something like that is NOT natural, the clown only does that because it doesn't have an Anenome to goto.
Update, I don't have this tank anymore due to a move, but I can't tell you how much I miss it! AAArrgghh :-(

  • i have no idea on saltwater tanks only tropical freshwater but what do False Percula and Magnificent Anemone eat and how big do Magnificent Anemone get

  • I fed my fish Brine shrimp (stored frozen) and dried seaweed. The Anenome will eat anything it can, including other fish if it is able!

I'd feed it any dead fish in the tank and brine shrimp once a week. There are different thoughts on feeding the anenome. Some say the Clowns will help feed it, i've never noticed that.

    Good luck!

  • i think i need to get my tomato clown a partner man cuz its so lonely lol

and what do i do if it is not eating?

  • if he is not eating...it means he is stressed. make sure the water and light schedule are adequate. If it continues, he may not make it. Try different types of food in small amounts. Good Luck!

  • A type of mucus protects the clownfish from the sting of anemone. : ) But other fish don't have this trait.

  • @HaloKiller1166 True Perc may or may not be able to be hosted by bubble tip. Depends on the fish. Other clownfish are much more likely to be hosted by bubble tip than a true percula.

  • so pretty

  • @maisieXshaun well if it has been there for 2 years i would assume it would be dead if it as unhealthy

  • @iblackbeard Yeah i have two, and only one fell in love with the anemone... so maybe it depends on the fish...or a 50% chance, who knows?

  • @00vampirate00 - i'm not so sure thats true, instinct is strong. I've seen it happen many times. Instinct usually takes over, but you are right, it may not for some reason.

  • @HaloKiller1166 most tank raised clowns will not take to an anemone, happens rarely, this guy's clowns did however, and so did mine :3

  • First-class video! Really song!

  • how did u get ur clown to host it? u say its tank raised, and my tank raised true perc wont even go near my bubble tip ='( i wish they would become friends...very cool video.
