This video is nothing more than showing some of the power you get through resampling. You shouldn't always use the tracks the way they were intended. You have 24 Motion Sequences per pattern, so put them to good use!

The basic premise of this technique is good sample creation and chopping. Be sure your drum or music part is 100% quantized and that it's exactly 1, 2 or 4 measures or else you'll find it hard to chop it with the low resolution of the 'SAMPLE START' Motion Sequence. When using this technique, always leave the the Motion Sequence of the track on TRIGGER HOLD and use Step Sequencing for precision edits.

Hope this opens some doors for people to add more parts to their ESX tunes. It's very nice when coupled with using a drum part as a musical part...if anyone needs a tutorial about that, let me know and I'll upload one. It's pretty simple to do as well...

  • It's possible to get the 8 bar long loop, you just need to set motion seq to 0 at first step, 1 at second, 2 at third....ending at 127 at 128th step. It really makes cool loops with even more possibilities (check out moving the start point knob when sequence runs on TRIGGER HOLD) than slice part. It's a cool feature because you can at last do something actualy interesting with loops. I gotta make vid with use of that. Y'know what? You had to be an electribe buddha to invent this method. THX

  • Yes. Very interesting and helpful. Ta

  • Never mind, I figured it out. This is hardly a tutorial though as you explain nothing in this vid, you just show the result. Anything in between is missing. You've explained some in the descriptoin, but for anyone who isn't all that familiar with the esx this isn't very usefull. Thanks for the tip though.

  • I don't get it. I tried this, but I only get the first transient when I insert the sliced sample into a drum part. You seem to have all the slices in a single drum part, whereas I can only achieve this by inserting the sample in a slice part! How did you do did?

  • Excellent vid. You really demonstrate a great feature of this machine. I have yet to use it but I know its a must if you want to get the most out of it. Thanks for the encouragement.

  • yeah...no doubt, great video.

I have the ESX, and the resampling capabilities are remarkable...not to mention the fantastic motion sequences you can make on every knob and function.

I also have an MPC, and the ESX kills it.
