Superstar Alan Jackson is currently putting the finishing touches on Good Time, his new Arista Nashville album, slated for release on March 4, 2008. The Jackson-penned "Small Town Southern Man" is the disc's first single, and after only five weeks on the charts, it's fast become a country radio smash and the youngest record inside the Billboard country airplay Top 30.

After releasing not one, but two chart-topping albums in 2006 (the multi-award winning inspirational collection, Precious Memories, and the acclaimed, Grammy-nominated Like Red on a Rose), Good Time returns the spotlight to Jackson as a songwriter, as well as a vocalist. The man who wrote 21 of his 31 #1 singles is the sole writer on all of the songs on Good Time, marking the first Jackson album to be written entirely by him.

In addition to the title track and the first single, additional songs include the sweetly poignant "Sissy's Song" -- inspired by a friend who passed away, the nostalgic "1976," and the joys of being a "Country Boy."

Good Time also reunites Jackson with longtime producer Keith Stegall, who produced or co-produced all but one of Jackson's previous albums.

Concertgoers are already getting a taste of the new music to come, with the album's title track on Jackson's recent concert set list.

First single "Small Town Southern Man" has consistently been among the most-added new songs at country radio since its release and recently garnered a two-page spotlight in the People magazine special country issue, on stands now. Fans can soon be watching for the music video for "Small Town Southern Man," shot last week by award-winning director, Roman White.

  • I love this song. I just lost a sister in law who was like a sister to me and was young and this song sounds like her and it makes me cry. Is this album out yet?
