The US Navy Blue Angels flight
demonstration team. Performance footage in the McDonnell-Douglas F/A-18 Hornet. The Blue Angels fly the front line premiere fighter aircraft, which is capable of both unmatched air-to-ground and superior air-to-air capabilities. This combination makes the F/A-18 Hornet the primary aircraft of choice for the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps forces for missions ranging from Close Air Support to Fleet Defense.

@TJDOZIER1 Affirmative. And if need should ever arise, the Blues would be painted the same as ALL other Hornets in the fleet in a 24 hour period, all crew members and aviators would return to active duty squadrons. The finest pilots in all the world, back in the early days of the space program even, always have been Naval aviators.

@Sixalienasa
In FACT, EVERY PROFESSIONAL NAVAL AVIATOR,
can and when necessary does perform "grueling aerobatic" type maneuvers, also known as "combat maneuvers", and then fly out to sea and land on a carrier. When the mission requires, it can be a landing at night with pitching decks in the rain, with the wind, and WITH BATTLE DAMAGE. It's called Naval Flight Operations. That fleet wide ability and skill is what gives the BA's an edge above the competition.

@TJDOZIER1 I find it hard to believe that any Professional who has just done a gruelling aerobatic show would then fly out to sea at night and attempt to land on a pitching rain slicked deck. Beggers belief Dude. The 50 kt headwind I find to be incidental. Now if it was a crosswind of 50 kts................................

@Sixalienasa
Nobody else in the world can do their show and then fly out to sea, land on a pitching rain slicked flight deck, at night, in a 50 knott headwind!
Go Blues.

@sbtechno
Look for the F-35 to one day add vertical maneuvers the Blue Angels experience.

@nic190, if they did, I'm guessing that they wouldn't be able to get as close to each other while in flight, as they currently do.

@sbtechno I dont think its going to happen either in the next 15 years, but one day I can see them in the Raptor. Maybe some day they will be a combined Forces Team.
