A GE "Dash 9" leads a fast moving "Z" train westbound past a waiting eastbound pair of shiny new GE engines. BNSF 6368 and BNSF 6369, two ES44ACs, I believe.
I've never seen two consecutively numbered trains in the same lashup.
I had an early afternoon appointment at the Aurora Airport and when it was finished, I took a look at the ATCS Monitor since the BNSF Aurora sub is nearby. An eastbound was heading into the hole at nearby Sugar Grove to wait for one of the usual afternoon priority westbound intermodals.
Lucky me. So I drove over to Sugar Grove. I'd never shot from there before and since I needed to find a spot so that I could set up quickly, I chose the shady side west of the grade crossing. Unfortunately, a huge pile of old rail ties forced me to place the wide camera much closer to the tracks than I normally like.
The eastbound pulled in... two shiny new GE engines. Not too long to wait for the westbound. He was moving right along. From this spot the view east is well past the grade and down a slight decline with two curves.
After the eastbound moves out, I've edited out the last of the train since its slow passage took quite a while. And I am not proud of that train produced wind noise. Yikes!

Cool! I caught 6369 leading that train today in Brookfield. Freight traffic was slow as hell!

Interesting. And I caught them again today westbound near Shabbona.
