The problem is that the Paypal model is not working for online transactions.

good story

I am happy i closed my PayShit account :)

How come when I have had issues in the past buying virtual property that I don't receive, Paypal has always told me that they do not guarantee the delivery of virtual property.
-
I also respectfully disagree, Mark. It's probably not Paypal but a third party debt collector that's after Ed. They won't sue for $500. They would spend more in attorneys fees in their attempt to collect. Secondly, if they do sue, Ed would probably win on the Statute of Limitations issue. For example, in Texas the SoL is 4 years. Lastly, Ed might have a claim against a Creditor attempting to collect an uncollectable debt or for threats under the Fair Debt Collection Act. GL, Ed.

Gotta disagree. If it goes to court, the plaintiff must prove its position. Which would entail the presence of the third party. Regarding anything that they might attempt to adhere to his credit could be disputed, and based on the apparent sloth of Paypal, I would imagine it being removed. btw: how does paypal have an ownership claim on the 500 anyways? Aren't they just an intermediary?

Thanks for sharing your experiences, and opinions. Appreciated. I guess I will try and buy some Cataclysm gamecards from Shattered to say "thanks". Cheers

i like the look on his face "i know 500 bucks is alot of money" hes really thinking i make 17 cents every second muhahaha. Markee is really protecting HIS BUINSESS not sticking up for the people who actually gave the item out. Since he went out of the bot buisness and big blizz wrote him a check you have robo markee. Yes do as you are told do as paypal and the underright Blizzard "TM" and here by signed by markeee tell you to. Do not fight give movey back till next time wanka wank a wanka
-
i second what kelo60 says, when they pay thru paypal, just make them mention that they are buying a virtual item or account that exists in a virtual warcraft world, and any of their disputes will be gone or just send them the game package via snail mail and that way, you can assure to send the item :)
-
And this is why I only sell to people on paypal when they put that they are purchasing a virtual item and they will not dispute the payment. And if they ever did some how I would show paypal the logs and SS on the transaction. And there is nothing they can do about it. Learn scammer tactics and how to stop them. And your good to go.
-
stuff paying that back. whats the point of getting a good credit rating anyway, loans are a scam anyway
-
Tell him to check his statute of limitations on this issue.
-
isnt there a certain period of days that someone can dispute a transaction. Cause i dont think a guy can recall his money for something he purchased 10 years ago
-
screenshot of transaction and chat logs would have helped alot. That said, in this circumstance i would call there bluff, be surprised if it even went to court considering the legal fees and the lack of evidence. He should have atleast responded and disputed the claim at the time and told them out right "i delivered the item to him personally, i refuse to be ripped off, end of" before ceasing further correspondence with them. Can't let these people bully you when your not in the wrong
-
Unrelated question, MD how does TrustWho deal with a legal name change?
-
If i was ed, I would go to court.
HE can not prove anything.
YOU can not prove anything.
The case will be dropped by lack of evidence.
-
@TylerPHS they used to sell em i dont know if they do anymore check blizz store

FROSTMOURNE IN THE BACKGROUND OMG OMG OMG OMG WHERE DID YOU GET THAT PLEASE REPLY
-
Video title is misleading, sounded like Paypal was reversing a decision from 10 years ago. They are just after this guy for not paying them after 10 years.
-
Indeed there is no credit-rating to worry about (or not as harshly as in the US)
Also if I can prove I have _sent_ (not caring if the guy has received anything) the item with the correct credentials I'm off the hook.
From that point on it becomes the problem of "that guy" vs "the postal service" or "that guy" vs "delivery service" with paypal and me completely out-of-the-picture.
IE: While the info is useful it should disclaim it's only useful for US residents in this case.

Boils down to the greatest acronym of all time. SOL, interpret however you like. This will get laughed out in front of any judge.
-
Don't listen to this guy, ring paypal up
I disagree. This is a bunch of bolognee! It will not ruin your credit. This is a small claims court issue. GO TO COURT and argue your case! If you lose then pay them the money. It is not going to wreck his credit Mark unless they have a jugement against him in court if he doesn't show up. Horrible advice Mark. This is what our court system is made for.

If the story Ed stated is true, he is not the one that has to prove anything. It is the other party that has to prove everything. This means the original person must prove he didn't receive it. It also means that the creators of UO will have to prove that that item was never in his account during that time frame. Seeing as this was so long ago that info is most likely deleted and can't be proven. Ed can than counter sue for damages, which I suggest he does. GL to you Ed! Keep us informed Ed.
