@asmorgan88 he may be better as a rhythm guitarist, but he's a damn good one at that. Pinball Wizard is my proof. Also: the worst lead guitarist ever is not possible to determine because there are some really suckish ones out there. Not that it matters, since punk rock doesn't require talent, but the Who are talented anyway (which is rare for a punk band).
And yeah.....no rhythm guitarist is better than Erik Peterson of Mischief Brew.....not many people know who that is sadly...

@asmorgan88 I think Pete is the most underrated guitarist of all time. Sure, he didn't practice his playing as much as his songwriting, but he's an absolute beast on an acoustic. On top of that, go listen to Heaven & Hell, Young Man Blues, and My Generation from Live at Leeds and Water from Isle of Wight if you haven't already. If that isn't at least decent in your book, than you've been spoiled by Slash or Page. His playing isn't about technique, it's about feeling and energy.

Ok, I hate Journey more than any other band in history...and The Who is one of my favorite groups...but Mr. Perry's got it right. He wasn't one of, he was THE worst...
Great songwriter, great icon, great musical mind...but his playing is terrible, he's known more as a rhythm guitarist & that doesn't even compare to someone who's known as a lead player (i.e. : Page is a lead player, but plays a better rhythm guitar than Townshend ; a primarily rhythm guitarist).

So much more creative than the Beatles or Stones ever thought of. The first punk band, first rock band, first truly exciting live band. Steve Perry can kiss my big white butt when he says Townshend was the worst guitarist to come out of the 60's.

You did a great job putting this together. I like the montage of different guitars he has used ( smashed! ). I've checked out your vids and it struck me what an eclectic taste you have.....
