20% of aortic dissections make it to a hospital -- of that 4% of that 20% survive. Aortic dissection is rare, and presents as a heart attack. John would have had to have been wheeled directly from the studio to an OR with cardiac surgeons -- and even then he probably would have only a 50-50 chance. This is like the main water pipe bursting on the street -- it's a fatal event in most cases.

I think it's funny that she didn't get a dime...it only took the jury 15 mins. to decide against her lawsuit, because doctors had warned him 2 years earlier that he had an enlarged aorta, and John did nothing about it.

Agreed! There was no reason for Ritter's wife to sue for millions of dollars. She saw an opportunity for greed...pure and simple.

Unfortunately, even if they found the aortic dissection, there would have been a very small chance of John living past that night. It's very sad, I hope this didn't sully his name too much, only the name of the greedy person who initiated this lawsuit. That was far too much money. RIP, I still think you were great.
