This is the finale to this magnificent performance of Antonin Dvořák's Piano Quintet, Op. 81, played by several of the master musicians who spend two weeks each year teaching at the annual International Academy of Music Festival in Tuscany. What makes this performance so remarkable is that these musicians only rehearsed together three times - and only then after a full day giving master classes to the students! It was performed in one of the beautiful old churches of Barga, Tuscany in 2005.
Note that every one of the performers hails from a different country. Music is truly THE International language.

  • Magic, indeed...from composer to this performers!

  • @Wavewolfaroha Thank you indeed for your many kind comments. I will answer all at greater length this evening.

  • an impressive movement....hell, and impressive Quintet!

  • @cedricrlongreen Especially since they had not played together before this performance! And what limited time they did find for rehearsal, was only after teaching all day to demanding teenagers.

    Thank you for your comment.

  • We had no idea that you recorder this concert:)

Thank you scotjack, and thanks everybody for your kind comments

  • You are very welcome.

No thanks are required - the privilege of witnessing such an inspired performance by you and your fellow master musicians was thanks enough!

I was able to contact Ms. Rose, but no one else. Perhaps you can contact others in the "Barga Quintet" and let them know?

  • I really like the communication between the pianist - Boris Slutsky - and the strings from 2:35 onwards. He leads and follows at the same time!
