St. Joseph's Indian School has hosted this weekend of Lakota culture and heritage since 1976, and we're proud to share the festivities with friends like you from around the nation.

Since 1927, St. Joseph's Indian School has provided care and education for Native American boys and girls. St. Joseph's Indian School's stated mission is to provide for the basic welfare of children (food, clothing and medical care) with special emphasis on the spiritual, emotional and educational development of each child, while respecting their culture and heritage.

  • I am of Native American Decent, and proud of who and where I came from. I am active in our local Native Community and nothing brings me more joy then to see so many young dancers celebrating together. St. Joseph holds a very special place in my heart as do all the children. May the creator continue to rain his blessings down on all of you. Thank you so much for posting this video and sharing with all of us. :-)

  • I'm glad that the babies were involved in the dances. Its brought tears to my eyes.

  • @janbob73 Thank you my friend for your blessings. I cannot help but remember from "Our" Declaration of Independence, I do believe, "...King George will not protect us from these merciless Savages...". Or words to that effect. When, in reality, the people writing this were indeed the "Merciless Savages"! One could say "...you want to see a merciless savage...go look in the nearest mirror or calm body of clear water...at your own image..."!

  • @jbg3941 thank you my freind for your nice words im proud to say your are blessed with a good heart may the great spirit bless you and your home

  • Amazing :) The little ones made me smile. It's great to see Native American arts continued in the next generation.

  • I am sad and moved by the Native American Cultures and the "Colonial Genocide" that my ancestors committed against them. They stole there lands, demonized and dehumanized them all in the name of "Greed". I myself feel guilt and shame about what my forefathers did to the indigenous Native Peoples on this continent. Trying to force them to give up their language and culture in a "Sick" attempt to make them into "White Europeans"! Nature is their version of God and I respect that 100%!

  • I am a high schooler at st.joes. Thank you for supporting and caring for st.joes! I have been to many donor luncheons, I probably seen most of you at them if I haven't then I might be able too. Pilamaya

  • @wolfmoon0466 i know......it is so beautiful to watch the young ones dance...it is really something when you can see the children dancing with their parents, or trying. Hopefully I can start dancing again soon cuz I messed up my knees!!! LONG LIVE OUR PEOPLE!!!!!
