Best recording of this piece. The way Sofronitsky keeps the tension from begin to end is unique. He does wonderful things with pedal, note the use of middle pedal in measure 111. But he also respects the rests. Beautiful voicing and pp accompaniments against the main voice. Andante in beginning rather slow but he accomplishes it to be convincing. Great example of creative tone palet together with respecting the notes and meaning with no rhytmical disturbances.

In characteristic style he starts out sober and gradually inebriates.I like the luxuriant torpor here.

But this is way too chaste for me.Liszt and Chastity go like pickles and marshmallows together.Great earth moving tone.
