Egde U2 - without the effects

Bill Bailey was making fun of Edge, saying all of his sound is in effects and he only plays the simplest riffs. and I thought it was hilarious

Watch the rhythm of the picking pattern. Without effects, he plays straight half notes...but when the effects are ON, the picking rhythm is syncopated.

So, as simple as that riff is, he played it wrong without effects. Way to suck, The Edge.

@SirJackRyan I don't think he sucks, I think he's very clever actually. I would never hear that sound in my head & then build up the effects to accommodate it. I'm impressed that he's showing what he's playing & how he has his effects set up to get the sound he's after. He's a down to earth guy.

haha! At least he's humble enough to come out and say it's just a simple little riff and that the processors do the rest. Still, what a killer riff on "Mysterious Ways." That is just bitchin' cool.

I love how people try to convince everybody how The Edge sucks on guitar.Maybe he does suck. Maybe not. But the point stays. He is responsible for riffs like Where The Streets.., Pride, Sunday Bloody Sunday, I Will Follow, Electric Co., Unti The End.., Even Better.., The Fly, Mysterious Ways, Ultraviolet, Beautiful Day, Elevation, Vertigo, Get On Your Boots, I Still Haven't Found.., With or Without You, Bullet The Blue Sky, Bad, and so on.Will you ever achieve at least half of that?I doubt that.
