I agree that it can be cringeworthy watching some of the American roughshooting videos. But I completely disagree that driven shooting is the "proper" way to shoot. I simply cannot be bothered with the whole social aspect and pomp of a driven shoot. When I go shooting, I go to be alone, or with one or two friends; to wander and see what I can put in the bag. But each to thier own eh... Still, must have been a bit of a different experience for these guys. Some lovely shots there too.

great video what cover do you use because those hill look pretty bare. It makes me cringe sometimes when you see the americans walking up pheasant and blasting them as soon as they get off the ground, well done for introducing the proper way ;)
The elevation changes dictates both the cover crops and which game birds we hunt. Due to the topography and geography in Oregon, we have 4 native species of game birds. On the vistas and cliffs, bunch grass provides the habitat for native chukar and Hungarian partridge. Down in the lowlands we persue pheasant and valley quail. I would like to extend an invitation to come experience Highland Hills Ranch for yourselves and see why HHR stands alone as the world's foremost wingshooting destination.

Thank you for your comments and opinions. In response to both of you, Highland Hills Ranch offers both British driven shooting as well as your traditional walk up hunts. We pride ourselves in doing both extremely well. In England, walk up hunting is almost unheard of. Driven shooting is a timeless tradition that is not widely offered in North America and HHR is the only lodge in the US that offers a proper driven shoot. Our cover crops are composed of native bunch grasses, milo, and corn.
