Option 2:
1. Select your audio file.
2. Press play and chop up your sample using the shortcut for cut by playhead.
3. Select all your regions that you cut.
4. Go to the audio drop down menu and click convert audio regions to new sampler track.
5. Click create zone from regions and click ok.

Option 3:
1. Select your audio file.
2. Click you shortcut to forward by transient (if you don't know what key it is hit option K and search in the search bar (search: forward by transient).
3. Hit the shortcut to forward by transient and cut on the transients you would like.

  • how do we change up tempos of vocal samples and change their pitch so we can use the samples for remixes and stuff? kind of like what kanye west does

    awesome videos! thanks

  • @cmiranda1234 All you have to do is open the Pitch plug-in that come bundles with Logic... It allows you to change the pitch of your samples.... Just put the Pitch plug-in in an insert on your track and you can edit from there.... I actually have a video on it.. If you can't find the video I could send the link to you.... Let me know if that answers your question!!!!

  • so if you don't chop your samples perfectly, is there a way to edit your chops/slices?

  • @DJTAVISLOVE there is... Just zoom on into your clip of audio that you chopped up and stretch back or forward until you get the exact clip of audio you were looking for... That is the beauty about Logic.... It is non-destructive editing.... Means you can always bring in other parts of the audio even when you cut it!!! Let me know if that answers your question...

  • Is there a way to install jam packs for logic express onto logic pro 9?

  • @DrStrangelove3D Yes you can!!! If you purchase Logic 9, it comes included with all the Jam Packs as well!!!

  • can you preview a chop before you save it? i only ask because I've always used recycle and you could preview each chop but recycle won't work on my new macbook pro. Many thanks

  • ok all those ways are find and dandy.. BUT.. who knows how to assign them to a MIDI CONTROLLER?? i have a mpd 18.. I dont want to press the TYPING keyboard to play my samples.. i need to assign them to a midi controller... AND play in one shot mode.. I dont want to hold down the pad either.. if anyone knows all that.. plz help me.. thanks

  • Hi there,

I was wondering: do you have to save those chopped up audio bits somewhere so that the ESX will be able to access them next time you open that sampled instrument? My problem is that I use the method you outlined, but when i deleted the song that I got the samples from, my sampled instrument doesnt work, because it cant find the song that Im sampling from! But I dont want to have to keep everything that I sampled for my sampled instruments to retain their samples. thanks.

  • what key are you pressing to chop it as it is playing. if anyone could answer this it would be so helpful!!!
