Full Story!: http://www.tmz.com/2011/02/25/dr-drew-charlie-sheen-aa-alcoholics-anonymous-v... Dr. Drew Pinsky -- the world's most famous addictions specialist -- says Charlie Sheen may be manic ... and possibly bi-polar ... but admits the actor made a point when he criticized AA.
I bet the success rate is much higher than 4 or 5% of the people who have actually taken the steps...

We can all tell he is manic if you've ever met someone that is manic, why do we need to talk to this guy about it?

@somethingdiffereable how do you know there is no god?you cant prove he doesnt exist any more than i can prove he does. Some physicists say the universe came from nothing and just burst into existence with no causal action.do you understand what nothing really means?not empty space, there woutd be no space to be empty n time cant exist without space.i cant logically believe that everything came from nothing.makes no sense.

@rjplamf61 i have been sober in aa since 1991.It has been not only a way to sobriety but a great blessing and source of joy in my lilfe. If anybody wants to come up with other alternatives they are free to do it just like the founders of aa did.god bless u if u WANT to get sober and find a way to do it. if its aa great. if its something else great.

@bafoone Sure they work for many people and I commend that. I think one some, including me, have a problem with is that the people who advocate the 12 step method see it as the ONLY way to do it. I have heard Dr. Drew tell people that their 25+ years of clean time is "no good, and not recovery," simply because they were not doing a 12 step. That is, frankly, cult-like in attitude, and not the attitude of a scientist...

@ccaannuucckk1100 Would you like to share some of the other recovery programs that are out there? Programs that are affordable to people who do not have adequate health insurance and meetings where people have access to them at least several times a week? If so let me know because I sure as hell can't find them. Also I take offense that you call some of these comments ignorant. It seems that anyone who comes out and states anything negative about aa is looked upon as ignorant and a evil.

I find some of these comments to be very ignorant. How anyone can say what type of recovery works for someone else is insane. There are so many different types of recovery out there for people that hopefully there is a type for each individual person. When they find the one that works for them AWESOME good for them. Anyone that can write venom about a recovery program they need to call it for what it is and that is that it didn't work for them and move on to another type of recovery.
