You start light and work up over months/years :) That guy didn't just walk into the gym for the first time and pull that. Your body adapts to the load.
I personally don't use a belt, have done in the past and I can see their utility,they let you lift a bit more weight. I have never had any back problems. Some people use em some don't.
A belt might put an extra 10kg on my dead-lift, cant' really speak for anyone else.
how you guys do this without hurting your back amazes me. How much does the belt help? How much for instance would you attempt to lift with out it say?
