One minor point... your timeline is correct, after Grand Theft Auto San Andreas there were two other releases:
1) Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories (in 2005)
2) Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories (in 2006)
Both were released after San Andreas, but before GTA IV
Everything else you said was spot on!

I did consider putting those onto the timeline, however since they were such a rehash of the older games, i figured there was no real need. besides when someone who knows nothing about GTA is talking about the topic it hardly seems fair to bog that person down with every GTA title...besides they're only handhelds anyway - not great IMHO anyway.
