I could see what you mean, but I think Wilco mainly covered the song as more of a joke, since they recently created their own label and are indeed a band under that label as well.

Tweedy sounds far too smug to sing this with any semblance of sincerity. I'm sure he really does like the song, but he should have just remained a fan of it. I hate to say it, but this almost smacks of intentional irony (you may have noticed that Wilco have been media darlings for some time now). Yuck.

I still don't think it has fully sunk in that Nick Lowe is going to be touring with them. Just incredible, can't wait.
