It's more like a variation on Tony Fisher's Golden Cube, although I really enjoy the lack of color on the Golden Cube. This is still interesting and marginally unique.

Yes I'm quite "shore." I built it myself so I know. A golden cube has one of its layers rotated, which changes the shape of all of the surrounding pieces. I believe a golden cube has 14 unique pieces, mine only has 7.
