@ehstrumpet08 The guy is right that "All-State" means nothing in the scope of your whole career (I was lead in my All-State Jazz band, & it doesn't mean shit to me now) BUT, It is an accolade that sets you apart from other HS players. Just don't congratulate yourself too much & work your ass off. You're off to a great start. Listen & absorb as much as you can so your solos are more varied, and FIND YOUR OWN VOICE. Think "Roy Hargrove", NOT Terrance Blanchard or Wynton.
Go get 'em, kid.

Forget about the All state shit and any other worthless meaningless awards you may have won in high school. You are headed to NTSU. There will be tons of cats that can play circles around your ass. You can catch up. Hard work is the great equalizer. You have a nice feel. Develop YOUR sound on the horn. get more air through the horn. The BEST thing you have going for you is your AGE. You have the basics, NOW the rest is up to you. Good luck man.
