  • @143AC but he was the founder of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) and creator of the "star system" within Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) in its golden years. And became the boss. As a studio boss, Louis B. Mayer built MGM into the most financially successful motion picture studio in the world and the only one to pay dividends throughout the Great Depression of the 1930s. He owned it. But your right, he did ruin some people, like judy garland. Idk who The Scheneck Brothers Joe and Nick were.

  • Mayer was a B-! and he ruined people at MGM..which was not his studio..he didn't own that studio The Scheneck Brothers Joe & Nick owned that studio.

  • The best book about Mayer in Haverhill is Hollwyood East:Louis B. Mayer and the Origins of the Studio System (Carol Publishing) by Diana Altman.

  • It was called the "La Fayette" under L.B. it was called the "Orpheum".

Yes, he was from S.t. John in Canada.

He wasnt partners with Sam Goldwyn. He just took over the land and buildings that Sam had.

A gentleman who will always be sadly missed.
