'Why have you "SHOTTEN" Dharavi??'

and needs to run atleast for 7 consecutive days. It needs to be marketed in a normal fashion as acceptable to the industry. Then it needs to be submitted to the Academy by the producer or the studio or the distributor. So what happens with a lot of small budget Indian films is they get lost due to the difference of opinion by the board members of Indian Film Association. Now a lot of Indian movies have been good like "Traffic Signal" which I think was way better than Slumdog but it just got lost

Guys, I really respect all you people's comments. And I personally think, Amitabh Bachhan is a very good actor and a legend. What he said was a little misinformed on his part, I totally agree with his comment it's a genuine mistake. The reason a lot of Good Cinema from India is not appreciated in the Academy Awards is because, first few of Academy's rules to be nominated are, that the movie has to be in English or atleast most of it. Secondly, it needs to open first in Los Angeles county for a

@666interlooper I personally feel ugly when I see a HUGE tall Ambani building coming up in the middle of thousands of 'jhopri's ..it shows our shameless vulgar showmanship and also poor taste. Nothing to be proud of about that..some guys got money and they are showing it..this is what our India is.

Seriously, I don't even know why this movie is so popular. I'm an Indian living in America, and all of American friends loved this movie...and they all knew how much I hated it. Not because it showed poverty (let's face it, there's more poverty in India than wealth...and gap between rich and poor is HUGE) because it was true. The reason why I didn't like this movie was because "what was so great in it?" We have so many Indian movies that showed exactly what this one showed, then why oscar now?

Thumbs UP to Frieda Pinto for whatever she said..!!

Amitabh Bachhan is good at over the top commercial films where Indians are shown as kings and Millionairs..or some dancing creatures. So its natural for him to comment like that becoz he doesn't know what is good cinema! Only now a days he gets little bit challenging roles. So his comments doesn't count.India doesn't need fake its identity..we are a poor nation and poor ppl fight to live. There is no shame in being poor, instead their struggle should be glorified!! Not Ambanis or Tatas...

..to add to that..Amitabh never worked with world class directors of India. He catered to mal-cultured Hindi speaking audience, where he had to say dialogues that are melodramatic and unrealistic.Satyajit Ray, Mrinal Sen, Adoor Gopalkrishnan and many other world famous directors( ppl whose names hindi masses never probably heard of) never took him in their films. So he is NOT that big of an actor, he is commercially successful, that's all.So the whole Big B myth is quite shallow.
