Patrick McGoohan, television's most imaginative mind, died on Tuesday from a short illness, age 80. Fans of my own web series The Subject, will know that McGoohan's series The Prisoner, was my main inspiration. The series will continue as a tribute, to this creative actor, writer and director.

Patrick McGoohan acted for almost 50 years, but his most famous roles were from 60's series Danger Man and The Prisoner. I have little knowledge of Danger Man but I intend to find out more.

Enjoy clips from The Prisoner, Danger Man and pictures from his other work through the years.

R.I.P Patrick, we'll miss you. You were more than just a number.

Have seen him mostly as the "bad" guy in "Columbo" (loved this series so much)!! One of the most brilliant actors ever!!

Thanks again to you - as ever btw -, my dear Jack,

  • thank you so much for this video.....i remember as a kid watching Dangerman and The Prisoner and being glued to the box till they finished. even at a young age i had a crush on this man....but i had no idea that he died..(how did i miss that)...sleep peacefully patrick you really was a one off!!x

  • Thank you... Patrick is always with us...

  • In 1977, at the age of 49, McGoohan played a doctor in the television series "Rafferty." Rafferty was a retired colonel who, after 20 years in the army was entering private practice. Rafferty was a brilliant diagnostician, and most of the episodes are more like detective stories as he tried to figure out what was wrong with his patients. I'm not sure, but I think he had a dog named Rover (been a long time since I watched it). Thank you for making a wonderful tribute.

  • Have commented on this before and i feel it is the best tribute around on the tube. It has depth ,being complimented brilliantly with the music.

  • a true actor, a real human, much more than a simple number, he was a free man. Rest in Peace n°6

  • Beautiful work Jack, brought a tear to my eye. A very individual tribute, To a very individual actor. Patrick McGoohan was a very unique actor, this is how much I like his work. Even if he is in a show or movie that does not interest me,if Patrick McGoohan is in it,I am still compelled to watch it in full, regardless of what it is about. No matter how big or small his role may be. But then again,I like a lot of his work anyway.

    Jack,,,,Awesome job!

    Thank you for sharing.
