Before Sunrise and Before Sunset are two of my top favorite movies of all time. They're both so achingly beautiful, especially Sunset. Had me in tears the first time I saw it in the theaters. I paid about $100 for 10 viewings before they yanked it from theaters. I couldn't get enough of this scene and the taxi scene. So beautiful....!

I love the way they treat a most profound question about why things happen the way they do in the context of the most mundane human experiences. It's not deep philosophical thought about the nature of the universe or cause and effect but just a simple "why?" Celine poses the question as A + B always equals C. Jesse is not so sure and wonders if it is just the result of chance rather than fate.
