Usability testing is something that we as web designers often overlook, as we think it is too hard.

However, as Steve Krug explains in his book "Rocket Surgery Made Easy," usability testing can be both quick and easy.

Today I am going to explain an easy way built into Mac OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard and higher that can help you in your testing session. That is Screen and audio recording.

First make sure you are running Mac OSX 10.6 or higher.

Next open up Quick Time X.

Select your audio source, most likely the built in microphone, your recording quality and the location you would like to save your recording.

Hit the record button and start your usability test, making sure to first ask the participant if it is okay to record the session for the purposes of the test.

After you are done recording push the stop recording button in the upper right hand section of the screen.

To learn more about usability testing get yourself a copy of "Rocket Surgery Made Easy."
