Preview of Peter Eigen: Civil Society in Global Governance -- one of 16 DVDs created by Ashoka's Global Academy for Social Entrepreneurship. Peter Eigen, creator of Transparency International, is a strong advocate of civil society as a major global force for social change. He describes how, in a world of globalization, civil society members can -- and must -- fill a vacuum on behalf of ordinary citizens. He describes how members of civil society can work together -- and with the business community, governments and academia -- to change their world decisively. To buy films, go to dvd.ashoka.org.

  • Peter Eigen is not talking about creating a Global Governance, he is talking about the Global Governance that we have right now. He left the World Bank because they would not let him fight corruption, and he continues to fight the good fight from within the system.

  • yeww

  • Oh dear Franz! :-s This guy's the head of Transparency International - do you know how much good work they've done? And the World bank "is responsible for putting many countries into debt"? Ofcourse it is - that's cos their principle role is to loan money to developing nations so that they can develop fool!! We all know the WB along with the WTO, the IMF and most other International Institutions have their problems (eg. transparency and democratic deficits) but they are a start.

  • I can tell in mins where this guy is coming from in his slick highly produced video

Global Governance is going to help the poor ya right . The same leaders he criticizes work with the world bank and powerful countries to exploit their citizens .

" we shouldn't be too critca lof the world bank " ya right THEY are responsible for putting many countries INTODEBT google this group and see where they get their funding from and I BET YOU its either from the world bank or a rockefeller foundation
