I had always thought that the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police were a professional organization. I had always thought them to be forthright and honest. Until now, lavish conferences with "FREEBIES" supplied by their corporate sponsors. Yet a rank file beat cop would face harsh disciplinary action if they accept so much as a free coffee from a doughnut shop. Many of their corporate sponsors have contracts with the various levels of Government. One can't help but wonder what influence they had in these contracts. But that is pure speculation. But what is not speculation is the Joint endorsement by the CAPC and the Police Association on Tasers. Who BTW gave a generous donation to their annual conference. Another ringing endorsement was of the Long Gun Registry. In light of their endorsement of tasers this is not surprising since CGI and Microsoft also were generous contributers to the conference as well. CGI supplied the computer system to the 2 billion dollar boondoggle that is the registry. The best tradition of the Civil service which the Chiefs are part of, is one of giving fair impartial advice to the politicians on public policy. Since their Lobby is a benefactor of the corporate sponsors generosity just how fair and impartial is their endorsement? By association the Police Union has tied themselves to a tainted endorsement which then begs the question what is in it for them? But of course with a big smile and a confident nod They claim it is all part of their concern for Public and Police safety. Kind of hard to take that seriously with all that cash falling out of the CAPC's pockets. Coincidently another corporate sponsor is the Power Corporation of Canada, who are linked to the Liberal Party of Canada so much so, that Paul Desmarais and Jean Chretien are inlaws. We already know what the liberal party thinks of sponsorship schemes, apparently the CAPC's opinion is no different.

As the bumper sticker says "only crooked politicians fear armed citizens". This is just one more sham in a long list of shams foisted upon WE THE PEOPLE.

I have personally asked dozens of front line officers what they think of the registry and TO A MAN they all said it was worthless and a huge waste of money. It does not in any way affect how they approach a gun owners home/property. And besides the police already KNEW who had guns because legal gun owners were required by law to have an FAC, and you got it from the POLICE!!!! More Liberal lies.
