Just a side note before the official description: if this is played on 480p, it will be a little clearer. :-) Okay, now for the official description. It was after I had heard "The Man Who Chose To Smile" by Paul Collier, that I was inspired to write a poem just so that I could put it to that song. After much prayer, the Lord gave me the words. However, I did have to modify the song in certain areas to fit it to my video. So if you'd like to hear the full song without the modifications, please go to the following link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZ7C1q1OyJQ.

This video is meant to be an encouragement to anyone. Whenever we are suffering or struggling with something from everyday life, we have a choice to let it discourage us and bring us down further...or we can choose to smile instead and make the best of our situation. I pray that the words in this poem, the pictures, and the music that brings it all together, will be used by Christ to reach into the very depths of someone's heart to encourage them! May the Lord Jesus bless you as you watch!

  • He is in control...so we smile.

    -Blessings

  • @ultravioletskies07 One last thing. I don't want to sound like I'm perfect in this area. I have plenty of my own times where smiling is indeed difficult. There are situations where all I can do at the moment is pray and ask for strength. Yet eventually, the joy and strength of Christ fills me and I am able to concentrate on what He has done in my life rather than on my hurt and pain. Even today, though I grieve the loss of my grandfather, by His grace, I am able to smile and praise God's name!

  • @ultravioletskies07 You also asked, "Can't you still praise Him without someone telling you that you need to smile." Yes, you can still praise Him...but it's not necessarily people TELLING you that you need to smile. It is our own choice to CHOOSE to smile. No one will come and tell us to do so when we are suffering. The encouragement and love from others and choosing to count our blessings is what will cause us to smile and remember God's faithfulness.

  • @ultravioletskies07 Let me give you another example. My grandfather just passed away last Monday. Though I have wept bitterly and have suffered the loss of a loved one, I have still continue to praise Him and smile through this trial I've had to endure. So yes, we can suffer and still be joyful at the same time...I'm choosing to think of where my grandfather is; I'm keeping my mind on the positive and I have found joy through my suffering and have been able to smile and praise God's name...

  • @ChristianPoetry That's what I don't get. How can you suffer and be joyful at the same time? You're either suffering, or you're not...? Can't you still praise Him without someone telling you that you need to smile - thus creating facades? Couldn't simple communication with Him - without having to seem joyful when you're truly not - still be praising Him?

  • @ultravioletskies07 These men had Jesus Christ in their lives and He is the true author of joy. So if we too have Jesus in us who is the true author of joy, then when we face difficult trials in life we can praise Him still. It is only when one has that personal relationship with Christ that they can obtain true joy. Without Him, smiling through trials is impossible; there's no motivation...but not when you have the true author of true joy living within you. The impossible then becomes possible.

  • @ultravioletskies07 So are you saying that when Paul from the Bible and the other men with him were beat and thrown into prison in Acts 16:22-26, and sang praises to God in the midst of their suffering; and also in Acts 7:55-60 where Stephen was stoned to death and yet lifted his voice to God and asked Him to forgive His torturers....that these men were advertising falsely just because they chose to praise God and rejoice through infliction? You are saying that these men were simply lying??....

  • @ChristianPoetry So we are to say yes we are suffering with a smile? That's not hypocritical at all..... False advertising is lying - plain and simple.
