Intro Credits with Kenyon Hopkins/Jackie Wilson's 'A Lovely Way to Die'. Schuyler (Kirk Douglas) is a hard-boiled detective who turns in his badge when he believes the criminals are being handled with kid gloves and too much respect.
From the Australian released DVD.
Around what year was this film released and was that Jackie performing onstage in the background in the nightclub scene in the beginning opening credits ?

Great! Thanks for posting. I caught the start of this movie a couple of years ago on cable - I kept watching the repeats just so I could hear the song again and again!
