yes he lost his memory.
this scene is so sad but also really beautiful..
i cried when he said "does it hurt when you walk?" thats exactly the first thing he said to her when they were children too..

very true and pure love, the best kind... she is just at peace knowing he is well and alive, regardless of anything else... i still remember the time and theater where i first saw this movie and even the person i saw it with.. now thats a memorable film

I watched this film in my own prison cell years ago, and I cried like a baby that night. This is the most hauntingly beautiful scene I have ever seen

A french masterpiece!!!!! Jean-Pierre Jeunet is one of mine favourite european directors he truly has his own style. This is a true classic, music, acting, screenplay, art direction, photography and costumes are all top notch! Vive La France!

@vickiehill1 this is when feelings are shown thru music, love it!!

yes, he may have forgotten her. But after thinking she lost him...after having not seen him for so long...I think even if he didn't come to love her like he did again, seeing him alive was enough. besides, you never know, they found each other again, therefore he may fall for her again.

And let me suggest you to visit Brittany, this is where most of the scenes where shot..you will see those beautiful pink granit rocks and this beautiful village which name is Locronan ^^

precious scene in the cinema world...the image is absolutely beautiful, the music is stunning and story holds until the last second...and what amazing actors, Miss Tautou and Mister Ulliel ! Besides what is even more pârticular about this film and this scene is that it captures what is very special to me about WWI, is the loss of innocence..after that war I think the vision of the world changed.

This scene destroyed me......
There is nothing stronger in this life than LOVE. Nothing. This film is so ":emotionally orgasmic". It stretches the emotions to the edge for 2 hrs. with it's drama, suspense & beauty...then brings you to a beautiful climax. For a few moments you feel drained, frozen, as you listen to the music & sob uncontrollably. It's one of those great films that builds tension...releases, then fills you with a peace & satisfaction that you won't soon forget. Simply wonderful.
