For fans of B-movies, Wild Guitar marks a first on several fronts. It's the first starring role of ARCH HALL, JR., preciously one of the supporting characters of The Choppers (1961), and it's the directorial debut of one RAY DENNIS STECKLER. Prior to this, Steckler was the photographer on such films as Wild Ones on Wheels (1961, which also featured Steckler playing a crazed beatnik) and The World's Greatest Sinner (1962). The story is that of a young country bumpkin (Arch Jr.) who comes with his guitar in hand to Hollywood to become a star. He does, but at a rather heavy price. One of the film's tag lines says this film "exposes the record racket," and it does. All the sleaze, the backstabbing, and the phoniness of the record industry are on display here. But don't worry. All ends happily. - Something Weird
