I guess it's official, I should stick to planning out my teams before I even know who I'm going to battle instead of looking for a battle and then putting members together afterwards.

You still did pretty good then for using a UU team.

I've done similar things before. I was about to do a UU battle but I ended up battling an OU team with my UU team, it's pretty hard battling a higher tier with a lower tier.

I would have killed sandslash if it stayed in because of specs, and I try not to risk using a move that doesn't have 100% acuracy because for me, if a move has a possibility of missing, a lot of the time, it will.
