Almost Automated Sheep Shearing Facility

Steve's amazing sheep shearing plant.

Additional notes: When you throw eggs at sheep, it shears them. Unfortunately, a dispenser throwing an egg does not do the same (it's all in the wrist). If it did, this sheep shearing plant could be entirely automated. Still, it's most of the way there.

Update: this technology no longer works. Notch broke minecarts flowing in water with his 1.5 update. There are indications this is a bug, so we hope he fixes it soon.

How do you filter out the cattle? i'm sure you probably said in the video, but i couldn't hear over the BAAAAs.

@airsoftbuddies50 Yeah, I need to turn down the sound next time - sorry. The cattle can't get sorted out currently (that we can figure out), it was just luck that I got all sheep on this run.

@jamiekin Yeah, geez, the buggers are noisy - I had even turned down the volume to 20%. Next time around, 5%. It gets quieter for a bit after the minute mark.

@CH8ZY Heh, the whole point of many of our constructions in Minecraft is "how can we do this efficiently?" We might spend two hours and untold resources to do something that will save 10 seconds each time we do it. It's the puzzle that's the fun thing, not the actual savings accrued.

@TaviRider So far, he hasn't found anything. Dropping them from a height didn't do it either. Seems to require the human touch.

@MrErichaines Aww, what a disappointment! Not even if they kill the sheep? How about fire, lava and cacti?

@TaviRider Yes, sadly, neither of those currently shear sheep! They do if you do it by hand, but dispensers don't - extremely frustrating to the engineer.
