Mike Waterson sings "Cold Coast of Iceland" at Hull Truck Theatre in August 2010. This was one of Mike's last public performances, and the last time the family performed together. Taken from the DVD "The Waterson Family Live at Hull Truck" .

Bought the DVD, really took me back to University days when I saw Martin and my youth in Hull. Now on a voyage of rediscovering Martin and his family. Thanks

He looked at the crowd as if he knew he would not be back to sing for them, So he stood there in the glow and he dutifully sung with hand on ear. Then stood just a moment longer to accept thier cheer..

I saw The Watersons at the Southbank Centre a few years ago. Mike Waterson stole the show with that great storytelling voice!

Wow! I hav never seen a singer so good that he made me feel like he was singing about himself. Quite a long solo song for a senor citizen. He really knows his craft. And eddietwang, dont act like a new york times critique, mate, u anit got the craft!/p

l thought the peformance was bereft of both depth,"juzze" and romance..l wanted more but was left untended like a fragile orchid.

The passing of Mike is a sad loss first and foremost to his family and extended family.
Beyond that, the world of folk music and song in which Mike for many years played an enormous part.
I would think all who new Mike would agree no better man to tell you a yarn then set it to music and in a short while sing it to you whilst asking is the kettle on.
Rest in Peace Mike
